some people argued that warehousing can aid companies in providing value-added service for their customers . what is your view for this statement ? <----點解&點答 ???

最佳解答:

Even though most companies considered their warehouses as in-house cost centres, warehousing can still provide value-added service for the companies' customers.Imagine you are the sales manager of your company. Your customer ABC wants specific barcode labels, e.g., part/model numbers, batch codes, manufacturing date, etc., to be printed and attached to the outer carton boxes. Warehouse staffs will have to collect these info during pickup, print and apply the labels after packing the boxes. Let's go one step further. Your customer ABC is doing business with its customer DEF. ABC wants your company to drop ship the merchandise to DEF, but with ABC's packaging material (e.g., packing tape with ABC's logo printed on it) and a mixed number of shipping documents enclosed. These are not part of the standard business practice simply between two parties. These value added services are extra activites operated and provided by the warehouse.
